If your company operates from numerous locations, distributed network monitoring can be a challenge. With most monitoring and management platforms such as ManageEngine OpManager, several licenses and modules are required. With PRTG’s remote monitoring and management (RMM) capabilities, monitoring distributed networks is easy and doesn’t cost extra.

Free remote probes, which run as light-weight services in your remote infrastructures, will collect monitoring data from your distributed sites and send it back to the central server in encrypted form. In PRTG, “sensors” are the basic monitoring elements. One sensor usually monitors one measured value in your network, for example the traffic of a switch port, the CPU load of a server, or the free space on a disk drive.
